Host a Workshop with Karen
Education is my favorite part of this business. Much of my time is either developing new classes or in classrooms sharing knowledge with students all over the country.
As an instructor, I am noted as an organized and clear teacher. I pace the classes so that there is a balance between lecture and work time. I am very hands on so I like to give enough time to walk around and help students as needed. I offer both technique classes and project classes to allow for a variety of options. In addition, I am happy to talk about class customizing, arrange for a book signing and/or trunk show of my patterns and books. Just ask about the options when you inquire.
Class lengths range from 3 to 9 hours. The longer classes are designed to enable the students to continue lesson between sessions in order to be ready at the start of the next session. They are also designed to allow for a larger range of skill sets. Classes include discussion, handouts and worksheets which will allow for the student to continue the project outside the classroom.
There is a minimum of 12 hours (2 days) of instruction. The instruction hours can be broken up between shops/guilds in the same locale to save on expenses. Mention that possibility at the time of inquiry. To optimize student attention, I ask that the classes are no larger than 20 students.
A workshop contract will be sent to you once the dates and classes have been chosen. A deposit is required at that time. Confirmed workshops will be listed on my calendar and announced to my newsletter subscribers.
If you would like to host a workshop, please contact Karen for listing of classes, teaching fees and available dates.

I have taken several of Karen’s classes at the Crochet Guild of America conferences over the last few years. Every class resulted in my completing a beautiful, wearable item and learning new skills. Karen is a wonderful teacher! Karen’s classes are well organized with excellent handouts and she is very attentive to all of her students and makes sure that everyone is catching on to the techniques presented.
